Copeland selected nine of his students for the Treasury, including Henry Milner Rideout's "From Admiral's Light" (specifically "The High Woods") and "From Fern Seed Chapter I."
"The High Woods" describes a journey through a snowy, desolate landscape by two men, Miles and Hab, who are woodcutters.
"From Fern Seed Chapter I" follows Leonard Corsant, who seeks warmth and refuge in a dingy restaurant in Santa Maria Novella and encounters a mysterious man.
